Understanding contemporary art is not a simple matter.  However, we gain insight in observing the way in which Gianfranco Missiaja’s art work has evolved over his 50 years of artistic activity, starting with his early drawings and paintings, etching, lithography and silk-screen painting, and finally to his latest showings at the International Art Exhibits.

Schola S. Zaccaria uses every artistic technique handed down from the masters of the history of Italian art, such as pencil, ink, watercolour, lithography, silk screen printing and etching. Under the guidance of arch. Gianfranco Missiaja apart from his recognizable paintings one can also find exclusive frames in gold leaf by the artist. Also available are publishing items, sculptures, furniture and other articles of interior design. His exterior design can also be seen on the website. Everything he does is inspired by Venice and its culture, and most especially, its theatrical and scenographic tradition. Great importance is given to the study and execution of works featuring the Comedy of art and in particular to the artist's personal interpretation in building his graphic synthesis culminating in the abstractions of the characters.

His story, told faithfully and sincerely — starting with architectural planning and design — finishes with an account of his latest work in the literary field: several of his contemporary art appreciation texts are written to be understood by the ordinary public, not specialized in artworks, you could just say “layman”and to provide a key to the complex world of artistic expression in today’s art.

Non sembra facile riuscire a capire molti dei significati dell’arte contemporanea. Osservando l’evoluzione dell'attività artistica, dei 50 anni di lavoro della SCHOLA S.ZACCARIA, si coglie una spiegazione iniziando dalle opere di disegno e pittura, incisioni, litografie e serigrafie fino alle ultime installazioni presentate alle Mostre Internazionali d’Arte.

Il lavoro si estrinseca nell'applicazione pratica di tutte le tecniche artistiche tramandate dai Maestri della Storia dell'Arte italiana: disegno a matita, inchiostro di china, acquerello, litografia, serigrafia, incisione, scultura, design. Sotto la direzione dell'arch. Gianfranco Missiaja, si eseguono i dipinti, le cornici esclusive in foglia d'oro, i prodotti nel campo dell'editoria, dell'oggettivistica e del design, della scultura, dell'arredamento fino all'architettura di interni ed esterni. Molte realizzazioni si ispirano a Venezia, alla sua cultura e alla sua tradizione teatrale e scenografica. Ampio spazio viene dedicato allo studio e alla realizzazione di lavori sul tema della Commedia dell'Arte, dalla quale si ricavano le interpretazioni grafiche che si sviluppano nelle sintesi grafiche e nelle composizioni astratte. 

Continuando nella progettazione architettonica e nel design l'attività oggi viene esplicata anche nell'impegno in campo letterario: sono stati pubblicati diversi testi di critica d’arte contemporanea, finalmente accessibile al vasto pubblico dei “non addetti ai lavori”, per poter fornire una chiave di lettura al complesso mondo delle manifestazioni d’arte odierne.
